Chapter Summary:
June has trained for two years, traveling the world with the mysterious Drey Mirroheart, her aunt Aeon, revealed to be the reincarnation of Kendall Kohma, the long lost sister of Daisuke, the original hero, and Nectar, the golem replica of her mother's deceased brother. Joining them were Kaiti, who was a servant to Zephyrus instructed to guard the Tower, and Sol and Lun, the elf twins who had saved June and company from monsters. They apparently knew Daisuke some ages ago. Drey has just challenged June to a fight, which will decide if she has truly learned anything in this time.
At eighteen years old, having died once and trained with her grandfather Daisuke for a year in the afterlife, training with Drey for a year on close combat, and counting her Kohma blood combined with the Sisterhood power that she received from Arceia and her mother, can she defeat the world's most powerful fighter?

"Fight you?" June repeated, stepping back.
"You heard me," Drey began, "Fight me. If you can't beat me, you can't beat Zephyrus." As true as this point was, June was still extremely nervous. That cowering style wouldn't get her anywhere though.
"Fine, she began, "but what makes you think you and Zephyrus are on the same level?"
"I've beaten him before." Every single person froze, even Aeon, who had known Drey for her entire life.
"Only one with Kohma blood wielding Torrent can kill him. I just defeated him." June's expression was less than amused.
"You've been hiding that kind of power this whole time?!" she shot at Drey, who shook his head.
"I was going to teach you while we traveled, remember?" he shot back, as he noted June making an attempt to understand. She raised blade to his own, though, and got ready.
"Let's do this then."
"Whoa whoa, wait, not in the house!" June's mother urged, shooing them out to the garden. It was a wide field, lots of room for moving and even more of a wonderful place to practice. The fight would begin upon a count of three. All of the party watched in anticipation, ready to see if June had truly come of age enough to best her master. The red robed man, with no way to identify his body type or build, even his face was hidden. He was an unreadable opponent, as he always had been.
Sol and Lun sat almost in the same position, with Sol clutching a small charm he was carving, and Lun stringing one onto a necklace. The two were very new to the party, and could not comprehend how important this fight truly was. Nectar knew, being the first member of the party, that June had become much more powerful already. It was a question of how much. Aeon was nervous, as was Kaiti, both of which were close to June's mother, ready to hold her back in case she ran at them to stop the fight.
Three.
June was nervous, holding her blade against her back tightly. Drey would be her toughest opponent yet. Though she may have trained with her grandfather within the Torrent World, and unlocked the secrets of the blade thanks to Arceia, she was always looking up to him. How could she defeat the one she considered a father figure?
Two.
Drey's smirk from underneath the onyx mask was wide, as he was waiting for this moment since the journey began. The moment June would surpass him in strength. He knew it was today, but that wouldn't stop him from using all his strength to test her. That was his final duty as her master. Sure, they would both be in rough shape after this, but if she could prove to him that she was strong enough, they would no longer have to fear Zephyrus. The clouded overcast of the Kinslayer God would be lifted, at last.
One.
They dashed forward at each other in unison, Drey being the faster of the two. He sweep kicked her legs out, while pivoting with his hand along the ground to kick her straight up, launching her into the air. Ignoring the pain in her leg and chest, she regained her posture and spun her sword with the leather extension, crashing down with it in all directions. Drey somersaulted backward, and upon landing on his hands on the fourth flip propelled forward with a spinning kick. June parried this, catching his gauntlet and pulling him in for an attack. He used her momentum to roll out of this, kick her to the ground, and use that force to jump off of her back and into the air, coming down with a slash.
It was like watching a dance.
June caught his blade with hers, pushing him to the right and following with a kick. The speed of which Drey was moving with made it easily avoidable, and he returned her attack with a stab of his own. It was barely caught with her blade, pushing it away and leaving him open. For a scimitar, Drey's blade could maneuver under June's large sword with ease. He came back and caught her leg as she attempted another kick, spinning her midair and slamming her down with a fist. The fight was assumed over, until June unlocked her power. Wings spread at last, and a deep purple aura radiating from her, she became much faster. Torrent weighed nothing to her now, as she was able to use it in one hand at this point.
"I was hoping you'd do that." Drey joked, rushing her again. She sidestepped, and slashed at his back, which was caught by his foot of all things. Drey knew the exact position of the blade to catch and parry it without getting cut, without even looking at it. With no magical abilities, Drey was at a disadvantage now. June unleashed a storm of fireballs, which were all at least the size of her blade's width. Drey caught several of these, cutting them in half with his scimitar. An idea struck him then. He moved a hand to his belt while parrying fireballs, and pulled a leather patch of it off, tying it to the cross guard of the sword. The leather was an absorber of fire, igniting after a certain number. Drey created a makeshift firebrand for the occasion.
June's fire ceased, as she switched to an ice spell next, slashing the air and creating blades of ice as she did so. The vapors from the ice melting on the sword caused the fire to die out, and the leather to swell. It was now just taking up space on the sword. Drey tossed the sword aside, which surprised every member of the audience. He motioned her a 'come at me' wave, and she rushed him. With timing of an expert, he caught the flat of her blade between his hands and kicked her in the gut, throwing her sword behind him as he rolled out of his position. Now with two unarmed fighters, most assumed there was no chance for them to continue. June proved this wrong when she began to teleport, appearing behind Drey and grabbing her sword. As if he anticipated this, Drey was already holding his, now with the leather removed. With another staredown, they rushed each other again.
This fight lasted for three hours.
Nearing the final moments, it became obvious that both of them were extremely tired. June's magic had weakened, and Drey became slower. But, at those last crucial moments, June began to realize there was a pattern to Drey. Attack, dodge, parry, dodge, attack. All she had to do was throw off that rhythm. With the last bits of her energy, she made a blind rush at Drey, slashing at an easily parried horizontal. He took the bait, and she threw off the pattern with a fireball to the chest. Drey went sailing across the garden, hitting a tree just outside it, and collapsed.
June had won.
At first, everyone was silent. A light laugh broke the air, followed by hearty laughter, from Drey. June smiled widely, and went to him, helping him stand.
"Excellent. You're the first person in history to defeat me." he said, dusting himself off. His chest plate had been burned off, revealing a muscular, thin torso. A red skin tone, too.
"Drey, you're..."
"A red elf." he interrupted. He nodded to Sol and Lun, which they responded to by joining the two on the field.
"We could sense it, but we figured he was hiding it for a reason." they said in unison. Drey nodded, and began to remove his robe. Underneath it was a leather vest, which was attached to a leather belt, which held up some slacks with chain mail knee guards on them. His hair was of a jet black, so wavy it looked as though it hadn't seen the light of day in centuries. He was very thin, and somehow appeared to be taller than he did while wearing the robes. He was at least a foot taller than June.
"I guess I don't need to hide it anymore." he joked, as a hand ghosted to his mask. Upon its removal, one could see a very young looking face, with crisp, clear blue eyes. His red skin made it obvious that he was aged, though. There were no living red elves in this entire world. Drey was possibly the oldest living being in existence right now, and June knew it. That would explain why he was so skilled.
"Why were you hiding this, Drey?" asked Aeon, now joining the group as well as Kaiti and June's mother, who was both shocked and worried for the two.
"If you do not know your opponent, cannot read his face, and cannot even identify his physique, isn't it much tougher to fight him?"
"Well, yeah, but..." Drey cut her off.
"That's it. I was the best because I couldn't be read. I defeated everyone I encountered, took down hordes of monsters, and fought alongside every Kohma hero to ever live, because I masked myself. I vowed I would reveal myself to the one who defeated me. June, congratulations. You're the strongest living being in existence right now." he leaned back against the tree, and laughed. "Well, I'd like to say that. But I doubt even you could go toe to toe with Saoirse or her little pet."
Always the joker, Drey was even now. June played along.
"Yeah, but I'd like to try one day." she said, her breathing returning to normal as was his. Nectar decided to invite everyone to stay the night at June's house, to which they all accepted gratefully. Only one thing could truly disturb such a coming of age moment.
"These are the ones who took my sister from me?"
