"Destiny"
Name: Yuan Ka- fai
Game from: Tales of Symphonia
Age: 4000 or more, exact age unknown.
Race: Half-elf
Gender: Male
Alliance: Neutral
Personality:
Yuan is calculating and cynical, arrogant and professional. He is ambitious and never lets anything come before his goal. He also hardly shows attachment to others, likely due to the multiple deaths he has witnessed. He seems cold, aloof, and sarcastic. He has a temper. He puts on a facade of sorts in order to hide his true feelings, generally what any " double agent" or spy would do.
History:
He is a Sylvaranti, and was known to be a high-ranked military despite being a half-elf. He was born in Asgard, which had a different name at that time. He eventually met Kratos Aurion at the battlefield, and always claimed he hated him after noticing that Kratos never took interest for him, even if he was a unusually high-ranked half-elf.
The Sylvarant military is planning to attack the capital of Tethe’alla, but Yuan, who is most likely leading the attack, receives a visit from Kratos, who brings Mithos and Martel Yggdrasill, two half-elf siblings who are aware that the Sylvarant army will attack the capital. They beg him to stop, but it is stated days later that they failed, and the capital was burned down. Whether Yuan ever agreed with the siblings or not remains unknown.
Yuan travels with Mithos, Martel and Kratos in a quest to revive the Giant Kharlan Tree. He is in love with Martel, and does whatever she says. Yuan eventually admitted his feelings and proposed to Martel, which she accepted. He became one of the four heroes of the Kharlan War at its end. He witnessed another human companion killing Martel after the war was over, and for a while agreed to help Mithos form Cruxis with Kratos in an attempt to revive her.
Yuan helped Mithos create Cruxis, becoming one of the organization's Four Seraphim. Yuan was responsible for watching over Tethe’alla. Yuan secretly began disagreeing with Mithos’ after some hundred years, understanding the meaning of Martel's last words: to end discrimination for all races, not only for half-elves. He created an organization known as the Renegades, his present lieutenant being Botta. Yuan keeps his role as the Renegades' leader secret in order to get to know Mithos’ plans better and thus stop them if they are too extreme.
Yuan realizes that in order to defeat Mithos, he would need the Eternal Sword, which means he has to release Origin, the death of Kratos. After Anna and their son, Lloyd Irving, is "killed," Yuan approaches him at the sea. Preparing himself to kill Kratos, he realizes that Kratos is already dead inside, and is unable to kill him.
After the Mana Cannon is shut down, Yuan meets the group and is informed that Botta and some other Renegade soldiers are dead, sacrificing themselves to save them and stop the self-destruction of the Human Ranch. Yuan opens the portal to Tethe’alla for them, but because of his unfaced look, Lloyd gets furious at him for not being sadder for Botta’s death.
Roleplay Sample:
The half-elf refused to negotiate about this, because it was the only logical conclusion. Any other conclusion would lead them into the enemies hands, and he wasn't about to let that happen; if they got into another fight now, then they might as well throw in a white flag and sign off their lives to the enemy. That's how it was, that's how it would be, they were not mentally or physically prepared for such a battle either. They were young, innocent children, the only ones mentally able to take on such a dangerous, difficult fight was him and Kratos...And perhaps Mithos... But not even Martel, Lloyd, or any of the rest of the earlier heroes. They did not understand that level of severity. Where it came to life or death, high risks, sacrifices, hostages, enemy negotiations, trickery, strategy, bloody swift or slow deaths. They didn't understand, they couldn't understand. Their journey was simply child's play in comparison to his and Kratos' s earlier adventures.
Yuan hung his head and stared down at the floor. He really couldn't imagine Kratos allowing Lloyd into such a battle, but technically Lloyd already played a role and Kratos despite himself could not pull Lloyd out of it now. The half-elf did worry about his friend's mental well-being, it was really unstable, which proved Kratos' s outbursts and violent moments; speaking of Kratos, Yuan really should get to preparing everyone's arrival. The half-elf wished him luck on finding the renegade base, if kratos remembered it's location, because Yuan was no longer aiding or speaking to him until he reached the base.
Yuan turned and went to the guards protecting the front gate, " There will be a group seeking refuge here, " he started simply, " Let them in. Among them will be Aurion, , you know who he is; they should be arriving shortly. Our current enemy may attempt to get in by disguising as them, have a team ready to fight them if that is the case, " Yuan then nodded and the soldiers nodded, then the half-elf went back to his room to deal with a wound. He had gotten it while stopping the security system in Derris Kharlan, when a horde of monsters began lunging at him. He was in pretty bad shape now, not that he was very surprised. The base, unfortunately, did not have medicine ( something he needed to improve ), so he went and grabbed some alcohol to cleanse the wound. The half-elf braced himself for the pain and poured some alcohol onto the wound; he cried out despite his attempt to grit his teeth. He then bandaged his wound and lay back on his chair, trying to recollect himself. This was usually when Botta would come running in, his curiosity bringing him to ask Yuan why he had screamed like that; Botta, what had he been thinking? A feeling of gloom came over Yuan, but as always the half-elf refused to make his emotions visable, only those who knew him well could know when he was upset, because he hid all physical clues. People that are not allies knowing your weaknesses is bad, so Yuan had grown to hide his emotions; which lead to moments like when Lloyd announced Botta's death, and Yuan simply stared at Lloyd, and Lloyd yelled at him for ' not caring' when he in truth did care.
