Her one eye was strained from all the work it was doing, as it hadn't adjusted to taking in all the signals yet, and the loss of its partner was still strongly affecting the physical exertion it took to do basic tasks. Jill closed her eye, and held it lightly for a moment before realizing it was her bloodied hand, and wiped her face with the loose piece of her shirt. She was really starting to feel the burn.
"Man, I can't wait to adjust to this." she said, smiling and laughing. She didn't get upset. Ever. She just got confused, and sometimes flustered. She was by no means a dominant person, always doing what she was told, and always looking out for others.
It was enough to really stress a girl out. She felt like she would slow them down if she showed such weakness, though, and so she set it as a personal priority to remain useful to everyone.

It was simple enough to make sure the barrier around them was still working, what with how her people could now fully utilize their powers here on Terca Lumereis. She had yet to truly feel the repercussions to her earlier bouts of magic, however, and part of her wondered if that was going to happen. Or perhaps it had already happened. She hadn't used a lot of her power, after all.
"Bibendum tuere nos," she murmured, watching as the barrier temporarily materialized as a gold, transparent bubble over them. Nodding in satisfaction once it vanished, it didn't take her long for her azure eyes to wander to Jill, narrowing them a little once she noticed the distance between her and the others. Not to mention the hand that was still ailing the human child. She didn't much like helping the humans.
Not after what they did two millenia ago.
Still, she noted, she would never hear the end of it if she didn't help her.
Approaching the human child, Mika looked down on her for a moment before holding out her own hand. "Let me see it."

Her eye shot open, nervous of the approaching possible scolding. Was she upset that Jill had bled on the gem? Was she doing poor work? What could possibly be wrong?
"I'm sorry, Lady Mika. I did not mean to offend. I merely ran out of dust adhesive and had to resort to the original ways of sticking dust to gems." she said, genuinely the only worry on her mind being if she had made an error in her crafting. Whatever happened now was her fault. She knew this. If the gem idea backfired, it was her fault, without a question. She carved it, so she was responsible for it.
Slowly, she held out her hand to Mika, revealing three deep punctures that were sealing on their own at an average human rate, but the skin underneath was still very much bloodied, the bruise showing true on her palm.

Even now, after almost two millenia, humans still valued the angels. It showed so easily in this girl, though the Yalurian Captain on the other side of the camp could easily disprove this. Mika waved her hand over Jill's, never once pausing to look it over, a light quickly engulfing the wounds and closing them up, burning away any sort of taint or infection that might try to get in. To Jill, her hand would be as good as new.
"I care not about your methods, Human," she replied, eyes looking up into Jill's own. "I merely asked you to complete a task. How you go about it is none of my concern."

She was slightly stung, but also slightly relieved that the method wasn't being called into question. After all, she had no other way to do it. Blood as an adhesive was an ancient practice, one the likes of which Mika herself probably lived to see the creation of and how it fell out of use quickly. The only reason she knew it was because her dad taught her that true crafts could only be made through two halves, joy and sacrifice.
"I'm glad I haven't offended you, my lady. Is everything satisfactory?" she stopped and clutched her newly healed hand smiling and bowing in thanks. She was very polite to those she knew deserved respect. "Thank you very much, my lady. I feel much better now."

What a strange, strange human. "Everything is satisfactory." Or at least, she was satisfied enough. Truth be told, Mika was more surprised than anything when Jill began cutting and shaping the gem. It was a move she hadn't expected under the circumstances, but it was also one she didn't question. She was sure, though, that Alex was likey thinking of it as some kind of 'girly necklace,' or what have you. His upbringing amongst the humans seemed to have made it so his tastes were similar to theirs, as well as prevented him from learning how to control his powers. Once all of this was over, she would have to take him back to Incendius and Ursulas so he could better learn.
Back to reality, however, she couldn't help but admit to herself that she was, indeed, a bit curious of Jill. Moreso than Kiroi, anyway (In truth, she would have preferred to render him permanently ill, yet Alex would never allow it). She shook the thought aside: it was deterimental. Humans were humans, after all. "Be sure to rest early. We will be leaving at first light tomorrow."

What could a commoner like Jill possibly do to remain of use to the group at this point? She was really only here because she didn't belong to this world, and they were trying to get back, right? Something told her inside that her usefulness would run thin upon the group not requiring any more crafting be done. In a way, she became scared they would leave her behind. But, then again, she was pretty much forced to come along.
Not that she was complaining or anything. She really enjoyed everyone.
"I just hope I don't bring the group down at all, since I can't fight or anything."
Being blunt, in reality, was something she did very well. And bluntly, she was worried she'd be useless without knowing how to fight during an adventure in a foreign land. She made a conscious effort not to shut her eye, as it was very tired from all the focusing it had to make up for with the lack of a good one. That was another reason she was worried she'd not have a use.

"Your Captain is more than willing to fight in your stead, and Alex has a soft spot for you humans. Not to mention that, should things get out of hand, I am certainly capable of cleansing this world of all its monsters." If there was one thing she didn't understand, it was the Human Mindset. Most of them either thought too highly of themselves or too little. When they weren't able to do something, they tended to deem themselves as instantly 'useless,' something she could... well, she puke agree, but that was hardly the point.
Jill should have realized by now, right?
"Though if you truly wish to fight, someone could most likely teach you. Everyone here appears to have some kind of training."

This was true. Though she truly didn't wish to fight at all. No, she had her skills, and she was heart set on keeping them, thank you very much. Her eye was rather set low from exhaustion, giving her sort of a dazed, innocent, cute look to her that otherwise was never usually present.
"Thank you, my lady. But I am a miner. That's what I was born around, and that's what I plan to do. Besides, there's enough violence in the world already that it doesn't need me swinging a sword around right?" she joked light heartedly. Her only interest was keeping everyone happy, really. She had a bag of gems she had been saving for emergencies, all of which were brilliant and cut to perfection. In this bag was one she saved, and would never get rid of The one she was born next to.
"But I guess, maybe I'm just silly this way, but I believe I should hold on to what I know and the sentiments around it. I'm not one to judge anyone by any strain of their being. I don't hold grudges. I'm just a miner." she wiped a little bit of dust off her face, as the wind was picked up for a moment. "If that's wrong, well, I like being wrong. Sorry... I kind of ramble about my job a lot."

Whatever it was Mika was suddenly feeling, she wasn't sure. Yet as Jill rambled, it slowly dawned on her. Grudges... were pointless. Entirely pointless, in fact. Where had they gotten anyone? She, for one, had been holding a grudge against Humanity for, what, two millennia now? Sure, she hadn't exactly abandoned Kouderra, persay, but she had uprooted two entire civilizations, barring contact between humans and angels. She couldn't even remember the last time she went to meet with the leader of Yaluria's Grand Church, or the last time she gave a blessing.
Excluding her endeavour to Terca Lumereis, she had stayed in her castle for two thousand years.
And Daniel... what would he even say if he saw her now?
Mika sighed, taking a seat beside Jill, looking up at the crystals. It had taken her two thousand years to realize just how stupid she had been acting all this time. She questioned how she hadn't Fallen yet, or maybe she already had. "I believe... you are right," she finally said, closing her eyes, absently fingering the stray strands of her headdress. "Grudges are meaningless."

She had no idea exactly what she had just said, the impact it had, or anything of the sort. She was, to be honest, raised mostly without legends or stories, and told to focus on the right now, not the back then. That was for her mining; if she's focusing on what rock she should have cut into, she's too distracted to see the ceiling caving in.
And a few other lessons.
"Yeah. Like if someone of this world stole my gems. I wouldn't be angry at everyone, I'd just be angry at that one, for a little while anyway. There are some things I protect more closely than others, though." as she spoke, her hand ghosted to two places. Her heart, and the bag of gems she had on her. The one containing her birth gem. Her eye was still relaxed, as if trying to force her to sleep.
"And I guess if I lost those, too, well... I'd still be me, the world won't stop moving because I'm sad. I just need to live my life. All I've ever really wanted is some pretty basic stuff. A steady job, a partner to come home to, and somewhere to call home. Everything else, is just for kicks."
She caught herself rambling again, and bowed apologetically.
"Oh, wow. Sorry. I have no idea where that came from."

"You do not need to apologize." Mika opened her eyes again, shaking her head as she leaned back on one hand. Honestly, she was learning quite a bit from one human. It seems they had easily managed to get by without their interactions from the angels.
"Perhaps I've Fallen, for it seems that it has taken a human after two millennia to learn these vital lessons. Daniel, however, would likely be rolling in his grave." Oh, but wasn't that an understatement. Sometimes she swore she missed him, wishin more than anything she could hear his voice one more time.

She was still pretty unaware of what was going on, being raised almost entirely without beliefs of any kind. She knew the names, but not the historical side to them. Perhaps that was why she was so free of judgment. Or perhaps she was foolish for being so open to ideas.
"Forgive me for not knowing much, I was raised to be aware of right now, and worry about the past and the future when I was older... Who was Daniel?"
A genuine question, and one that required no explanation if it proved difficult to talk about.
((Shortness, ._. ))

Mika's eyes widened a fraction as they turned on Jill, genuinely shocked before they narrowed. She was suspicious: was there really a human who didn't know of the past? Or had they simply forgotten about the angels over time? She wouldn't have minded if they were considered has nothing more than legends, but...
To forget about them so easily... had they truly been forgotten?
"Daniel Venti was the first Elemental of Wind," she said calmly, turning her gaze away again. Ah, this wasn't good. She was starting to feel her anger. "He was killed while preventing a powerful demoness from destroying the Humans." She looked at Jill again. "Do you truly know nothing of the stories of old?"

She shook her head.
"Dad always told me, 'don't worry about what you can't change, focus on what you have influence on, or you'll get yourself killed."
Truly, she knew very little. She knew names like Mika from hearsay, and she knew that such a name was very exponentially powerful, and to respect the bearer. Other than that, she had only been taught what was needed to know in her practice. Mining, crafting, survival, and energy conservation.
"I'm just a miner, my lady. My job is to harvest gems. Dad always told me I should worry about my job before I go and read the history books, because I'd feel bad if I did." a brief pause came to her, before she closed her eye entirely, and shook her head. "So, I only really know enough to know names and to respect certain ones."
