His breath hollow, and his hands numbed to everything except the blade within them, Daisuke let out an enraged howl to the heavens. The blade conformed around his entire arm, and his body became warmer, and warmer... So much so, that merely touching him would melt the hand of the unlucky fool. Ah, yes, he was a fire specialist. The blade within his hand, now becoming his hand and arm, was vibrating in anticipation. It seemed all too likely that the foolish ones to oppose him would be extinguished.
That is, if the foe who was before him wasn't already cutting through his shoulder. The blade stopped immediately, just above his heart, being forced out by a magical, purple fire. As it did so, the flares melted the blade, and the hand wielding it. The poor fool was kicked in the chest, hard, and what was left of him hit a tree and slid to a dead slump. With more than a thousand men all conforming to his location, it looked like an uneven battle. Uneven, if you were the army.
There was a flare of purple fire, surrounding his entire body, encasing him in a barrier inside of which only six men in the surrounding hundred feet survived. Those six, charging valiantly, were met with grim misfortune. Daisuke skewered one, using his body as a hammer, smashing the other two with him away. His blade absorbed the blood, and the stamina of the user grew exponentially. The last three approached at all angles, which Daisuke replied to with a headbutt to the one in front of him, easily crushing his skull from within, and those on the sides grabbed his arms, causing theirs to be singed off. And during their cries of pain, he decapitated them both in a spinning slash.
The lightning struck close to the rest of the army, a vast majority of them remaining. How was he to take them out in such a homicidal rampage? Simply put, he wasn't. Torrent released its grip over him, allowing the man to regain his thoughts and his physical form. His expression was that of a tired man, and tired he was. His exhaustion would indeed get the better of him after a feat like that, but not yet. Not until backup arrived. The battle was far from over, and he had to wait for the rest of the gang to arrive. Stalling time. He needed stalling time.
"Well, this doesn't look too good." came the voice of Kunai, stepping out from behind his childhood friend with a grin. "For them anyway."
"What kept you?" asked Daisuke, breath very slow and precise. The response he got was Kunai pointing behind him with a thumb, which revealed a large mob of people behind him.
"I was getting a few friends." said Kunai, referring to the army he had brought. Leading them was Commandant Drey Mirroheart, their personal trainer as children, and best friend of several years. At his right was Jamie Kohma-Faye, Daisuke's wife, Ashley, the tactician behind the party, and twins Sol and Lun, the red elves. They were followed by what looked like a few hundred men and women, all marching in with the Magnum colors waving brilliantly behind them, as the storm intensified and the wind wreaked its havoc on a large amount of the battleground.
Daisuke gae his wife a kiss, and the battle continued, as the flare wall died out. Jamie decided to toy with a few of them, and, being the most powerful mage on the planet, manipulated the blood of a dozen enemies to attack their own, while simultaneously burning them from the inside out. Drey drew his scimitar, and held it into the air, signaling his men to hold a moment. Sol and Lun took to the trees with bows, and got ready for some sniping duty. Ashley, whispered a battle plan to Drey, who with a wave of his blade toward the enemy, unleashed every single soldier into the fray.
"So I see." replied Daisuke to Kunai's comment, placing his hands to the ground. A glyph of magic appeared below him, and sparks of purple fire erupted from underneath it, several feet high. Jamie provided her support in battle with lightning and ice spells, while Kunai activated his active camouflage spell, effortlessly cutting down anyone who didn't see him as he began marauding his way to the back of the thousand man army. As it seemed, this was one battle where all or nothing would go a long way.
"Brilliant dancing flames, make your devastation known to me now..."
Jamie caught wind of Daisuke's incantation and looked back.
"Idiot, you'll die!" she shouted, freezing the area around him to prevent attackers. She knew he wouldn't listen. he never did.
"In my hand is a dead star, bring forth the power to make it live once more..." his hands met, forming a solid ball of diamond, and the heat became so intense, the ice wall melted. The ball ignited with purple flame, and his hands raised above him, the sheer heat from such a spell leaving the ground below him burned to cinders and blackened charcoal.
"With this star, I hold the end of my foes..."
The battle was becoming dangerously unpredictable, so much so that Drey himself began attacking, and Kunai coming from the back of the army made it clear that those two alone could probably handle it. However, Jamie used the lightning from the storm to amplify her own abilities, and began using the glass created from the massive heat Daisuke generated to tear through foes, which gave the sniper elves plenty of room to attack.
"Now, return my enemies to dust! Celestial Flame!"
Daisuke unleashed the star's power, throwing it into the air and into the center of the army. Upon landing, it exploded, and all within the radius disintegrated. Every bit of ground, man, woman, plant, animal, anything, turned to a blackened dust. However, this was not the end. Using every drop of his mana, Daisuke raised his hands again, forcing the entire crater to become filled with an incinerating purple flame, which Drey and Kunai forced the remainder of the army that hadn't been evaporated into, thoroughly ending the battle. Daisuke collapsed, exhausted. His wife quickly ran to his side.
"Daisuke?! You idiot, I warned you!" she slammed her fist into the ground, tears forming as she buried her head in his back. Ashley arrived on the scene, sighing.
"We need a medic, stat." she said, as the elven twins approached with a look of concern. They looked from one to the other, and eventually nodded in agreement.
"Step aside, we will handle this." they said simultaneously. Upon checking his vitals, it was confirmed. Daisuke had no blood flow, and no pulse. He was dead. Jamie knew this though, as she had the intuition that told her so. A hand ghosted itself to her stomach, and she worried even more strongly for the fate of another individual. Her worries would soon subside, as a green haired woman stepped into the battlefield, eyes as deep a green as the cholrophil of the leaves, hair a glossy plains green color, and skin as white as the clouds. The woman bowed to the group, and smiled.
"A fallen warrior hast touched the hearts of thee, and thine cause is just. Life shall be your reward." she said, her body moving down to Daisuke's. She brushed a hand over his cheek, and the blood flowed once more, as if it had always been. The woman flipped him onto his back, and kissed his lips, breathing the airs of life into him.
"Thou fight on behalf of the world, our Neganite. Eternally." she said, standing once more and giving a nod to her brothers, smiling brightly as ever. She vanished without a word more, and without an indication of such. One had to blink to truly realize what had just happened. Drey was the first to speak up.
"That was... Wow. And I thought I was lucky." he said, laughing. Jamie, dumbfounded and jealous of the woman taking advantage of her lover, huffed and kicked him, hard.
"Wake up, loverboy." she said, her emotional change clearly quick. His eyes finally contemplated what was happening, and he sat up effortlessly. It seems the woman had fully healed him. he looked around a moment, confused, before standing.
"The Hell just happened?" he asked, to which Jamie slapped him in the face and shook her hand after, relieving the pain from herself.
"You kissed Saoirse." she said, looking away. "I didn't say that was okay, and I didn't get kissed either, so you sleep alone tonight."
Drey laughed and shrugged, saying "You're on your own here, pal. Ashley, let's head back and report total victory."
The army celebrated loudly, throwing flags into the sky and retreating, as did Daisuke and Jamie, discussing the details of the encounter with their deity. Kunai held back, approaching the twins.
"You two asked her to bring him back, huh?" he asked, taking a moment to examine the battlefield. "Thanks. He's an idiot, but he's a good guy."
They nodded.
"That's why she breathed eternal life into him."
