You are approached by a masked woman, wherever you are. She hands you a flier, telling you to meet her at a specific address in an un-named town. With a look of confusion, your attention turns to those behind you. They received a similar invitation, though were told to meet at different places. With reluctance, and a small bit of curiosity, you arrive on location. There, the masked woman greets you, with a bow.
"Welcome, please take your pick of any of the formal wear in the closet provided."
Your eyes widen as you see the closet doors magically swing wide open, revealing several outfits that all, strangely, fit you perfectly. The masked woman nods at your choice, and at this point senses your over-all confusion. She laughs and turns to another door, against he wall opposite to the one you entered from. With another bow, she begins explaining the situation.
"Welcome, dear traveler! You have been invited to the Ceasefire Ball! I am afraid your weapons will be confiscated now."
With a snap of her fingers, you are completely and totally unarmed. No matter how hidden the weapon, it is gone from your body, without a trace. She returns to speaking, addressing you by name, which startles you.
"This is a formal occasion, so please make use of the clothing available. This ball was created as a one day event. You may interact freely with any other attendees, and be as rash with your actions as you please, provided they are not harmful to the other guests."
You seem to understand more clearly now, what is going on. Still, it greatly confuses you as to why you have been selected for this event. It then occurs to you that the word "ceasefire" means that two or more sides may be forced to cooperate here, even if they are enemies. The thought of seeing your enemies sends a chill down your spine, knowing that you are defenseless.
"All other guests are also disarmed, and are in their own changing rooms. The ballroom is large, well lit, and holds many refreshments. Think of it as a High School prom. There is one catch to this special event, though."
You feel a gulp form in your throat, always wary of the strings attached to anything. This may be awkward to hear.
"At exactly midnight tomorrow night, you will completely forget everything you have done tonight, and wake up in your original position from where I summoned you. Please use this twenty four hour event to the fullest, and have a fun time with that special someone; This may be the only chance you get to be real with them for a long time!"
The thought of this greatly concerns you, but with steadfast determination, you enter the ballroom, and find it to be large and open, with varying colors adorning the light fixtures, and music of many varieties playing at all times. She was right; this really IS like prom. Oh ell, best to use a fun time to it's fullest, since you were here anyway... And the door behind you has vanished from sight, as well as the several other doors that the other guests entered from.
Scanning the room, you see several companions, a few enemies, and some faces you've yet to meet. You contemplate meeting them, but heed the masked woman's words about not remembering this night. Why make a friend you can't see after this? Whether or not it is worth the risk is yet to be determined.
But one thing is for sure, you plan on having a good time!
